Nature education isn’t just for children.
For many adult learners, a simple walk through the forest, along a riverbank 🌊, or in a city park 🌼 can be a powerful entry point into understanding democratic values and civic belonging.
🌱 In nature, we witness:
🌀 Interdependence
🌈 Diversity
💪 Resilience
⚖️ Balance
– the very foundations of democratic life.
🗣️ Rights, responsibilities, public goods – these become tangible when we explore them in real, shared spaces.
🧭 Civic education doesn’t have to start with a constitution.
It can start with:
🗺️ A map
🌿 A trail
❓ A question
👣 A group willing to walk and reflect together
We explored this approach in our Erasmus+ project with Roma VHS (Burgenland, Austria) – and the impact was real.
Let’s take learning outdoors. Democracy might be closer than we think!
