What if teaching democracy didn’t start with theory – but with walking through a forest together? 🌳🗳️

This week, we had the chance to explore that and much more in Lower Silesia, during common workshops in Kotlina Kłodzka (Kłodzko, Polanica Zdrój) and further – Świdnica and Krzyżowa with a group of dedicated adult educators from Austrian RomaVHS. All of that within a great Erasmus+ Project – Teaching Democracy in Classroom and Nature.

The focus? How to integrate elements of democracy into adult education across different subjects, methods, and environments. 🌍📚

Together with Paulina Ros we looked for creative, practical ways to bring democratic values to life: through discussing the ideas such as freedom of speech, gender equality, nature and forest education, dialogue, history, resistance and participation. Thank you Fundacja „Krzyżowa” dla Porozumienia Europejskiego for the wonderful insight we received from your trainer, with your legacy of resistance and reconciliation and perfect space for deep reflection and future-thinking. Thanks as well to Krzysztof Roś for a wonderful forest bath and providing space for a deeper look inside ourselves.

It was inspiring to see how democracy can be made tangible – not just discussed, but experienced. 💬🌿

To fellow educators:
👉 How are you embedding democratic values in your own teaching?
👉 What spaces (classrooms or beyond) have helped your learners connect with these ideas?

Let’s keep learning from each other.
